EASY HOMEMADE BOUNTY AKA MOUNDS
Easy Homemade Bounty Aka Mounds
These homemade bonus bars are SUPER easy to make and only require 3 ingredients! Follow my step-by-step instructions and make this popular candy at home!
ingredients
- 3 cups unsweetened grated coconut
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 15 oz semi-sweet chocolate
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the coconut and sweetened condensed milk to make a thick, sticky paste.
- With your hands, form rectangles with the dough. Press firmly to make sure the rectangles will keep their shape. After 3 or 4 rectangles, wash your hands and do not dry them completely. That way, the dough won't stick to your hands.
- Place the coconut bars on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and put in the freezer for about 20 minutes. This will make the candies easier to dip in the chocolate. Don't skip this part or it will be a mess!
- In the meantime, cut the chocolate into pieces and put 2/3 of it in a microwave-safe bowl.
- Microwave the chocolate on medium power for 30 seconds, stir, then repeat at 15 second intervals, until the chocolate has completely melted.
- If you prefer to melt the chocolate on the stove, place a heat-resistant bowl on a small saucepan filled with simmering water. Stir the chocolate over low heat until it is melted, taking care that the chocolate does not come into contact with water and steam during melting.
- Add 1/3 of the remaining chocolate and continue to stir until it is completely melted.
- This process is called tempering chocolate. It will allow the chocolate to have a shiny texture and to be fixed properly with good pressure when you break it.
- It's time to dive now! Remove the rectangles from the freezer. If you want to take your time, you can work with one rectangle at a time and leave the others in the freezer. Using two forks, dip a rectangle halfway into the melted chocolate.
- And roll it up to cover all sides.
- Using a fork, remove the rectangle from the melted chocolate. With the other fork, remove the excess chocolate and arrange your house premium on an upholstered baking sheet.
- Allow a few hours for the chocolate blanket to set (time will vary depending on where you live, the warmth of your home, etc.) and TAKE ADVANTAGE of your homemade bonus bars!

Recipe notes
- They will last up to 5 days in an airtight container, out of the sun. After that, they will start to dry. You can also keep them in the fridge but they dry much faster and harden a bit, I don't recommend it.
